For the past 10 years, I have served as a Child Welfare Specialist with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, working closely with children and families through some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives. My career in child welfare has given me extensive experience in child safety, family support, recognizing individual needs, and understanding the importance of creating environments where children feel safe, valued, and supported. Those ten years have shaped the way I approach childcare today. At Amy Lou’s, safety will always come first, but I also want every child who walks through our doors to feel welcomed, understood, and cared for.
At Amy Lou's Drop-In Daycare, we strive to create meaningful experiences for every child who walks through our doors. From first-time visitors to returning families, our goal is to provide exceptional care, engaging activities, and peace of mind for parents. Here's what our families have to say about their experiences.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma and have completed graduate-level coursework in Early Childhood Education. These experiences provided me with a strong understanding of child development, learning styles, and age-appropriate care practices.
My educational background continues to guide the way we create meaningful experiences for children at Amy Lou’s, ensuring every activity is designed to encourage growth, creativity, confidence, and curiosity.
My journey working with children began long before opening Amy Lou’s. During college, I spent several years working in daycare settings, caring for and engaging children of various ages.
Over the years, I’ve also had the opportunity to teach gymnastics, cheer, softball, and basketball to young children. These experiences allowed me to help children develop confidence, teamwork, coordination, and a love for movement.
In addition, I have spent many years babysitting and nannying for families, caring for children from infancy through school age. Each child and family taught me something valuable about the importance of trust, connection, and personalized care.
Amy Lou’s Drop-In Daycare holds a very special place in my heart because it was inspired by my mom.
She lovingly called me “Amy Lou”, a nickname that became a reminder of the kindness, compassion, and unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. She taught me the importance of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
Today, those same values guide everything we do at Amy Lou’s. My hope is that every child who walks through our doors feels safe, important, loved, and excited to learn and explore.
